Defining optimal gestational weight gain based on the new Brazilian charts: Impact on public health nutrition policy using linked data from SISVAN-SINASC

About

This project is based on a previous 2018 Grand Challenges Exploration project, in which the Brazilian gestational weight gain charts were created. To be incorporated in the pregnancy booklets, it is necessary to define weight gain ranges for the four pre-pregnancy body mass index categories portrayed in the charts. Those ranges will be identified considering values that minimize the occurrence of both maternal and infant adverse outcomes. The products to be developed include the gestational weight gain recommendations, tools for the capacity-building of health care professionals to use both the charts and the recommendations, a gestational weight gain tracking app, and an interactive dashboard to enhance the quality of the reports generated based on the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System (SISVAN).
