About
The Maternal and Child Center of the National Hospital Simão Mendes conducts annual campaigns for cervical cancer screening with significant results.
However, the data collected during these campaigns are in a physical format, making it challenging to comprehensively analyze and understand this infectious disease’s prevalence in Guinea-Bissau. This study aims to bridge this critical gap and enhance the diagnosis of cervical cancer in the country. The project plans to digitize data from the annual cervical cancer screening campaigns conducted by the Maternal and Child Center and integrate human papillomavirus (HPV) data into the National Health Information System database. This will enable further research, including statistical and epidemiological analysis, to determine the prevalence of cervical cancer in Guinea-Bissau, identify risk factors associated with cervical cancer, and ultimately contribute to raising awareness among the population about the importance of screening and early diagnosis of cervical cancer.
